Welcome to the website. We hope this site will provide you with information about our office, staff, and policies, as well as educate you about skin cancer and the procedures we offer. We welcome all patients, family and friends, as well as healthcare professionals to our site, and appreciate any and all feedback on how this site may be of more use to you.

One of our goals is to provide dermatologic care to our community that is based on the most up to date knowledge, using the newest and most exciting technologies. However, we founded PHD on the oldest of Hippocratic principles-first, do no harm. We will offer our community only those treatment modalities that have been shown by solid medical evidence to be of benefit. When you visit us, you can have confidence that we've done our homework, but also that we will answer your questions until you share our confidence that the treatment is right for you.
Our understanding of skin disease and its treatment is changing rapidly. This has two important implications for patients. First, the mounting complexity of dermatologic care has led many dermatologists to obtain highly sub specialized training relating to specific kinds of skin disorders. This practice is focused principally on the surgical and laser-based care of skin disorders, especially those caused by exposure to the sun. We also offer laser-based treatment of acne scarring, pigmentary disorders, and vascular anomalies such as hemangiomas. As a result, our ability to treat general dermatologic diseases is limited, and will be offered on the basis of available appointments only.

Second, we embrace the fact that part of our mission is to help you understand the advancing, and somewhat overwhelming, knowledge of dermatology in order that you can be a more informed consumer of care. Keep an eye on this website. From time to time, we'll review important news in dermatology with you in language that is clear and non-technical. Good medical care comes from a partnership between physician and patient, and we intend to uphold our end of the deal.

Donna Regen's daughter Jaime spent her high school lunch hours tanning in a nearby salon in an effort to be tan and popular. Jaime, who also spent time in the sun, went from a self-proclaimed tanning bed addict to a melanoma patient in just a couple of years. She died just three weeks shy of her 30th birthday. Her family is sharing Jaime's emotional story in the American Academy of Dermatology's TV and print public service advertisements (PSAs) that plead with people not to tan because of the increased risk of melanoma.
